Success stories
Naheem was among the 6.5% out of 35,220 applicants who were offered a spot in Yale’s class of 2024. Naheem traveled to Jeonju, South Korea with the National Strategic Language Initiative for Youth in the summer before his junior year. And he spent six weeks studying race and ethnicity at University of Michigan’s campus as a Telluride Scholar.
Nybria graduated from Smith College in 2018. She is a 2019 Venture for America fellow and an alum of the Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs. She is currently an Associate with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team at Catalyst:ED.
Diyaaldeen is a graduate of Emory University. He joined TeenSHARP in his sophomore year of high school. He was accepted into a number of top colleges (Babson, Univ of Virginia, etc.) before choosing Emory. He is currently a Management Trainee at McMaster-Carr.
Jordan and Brandon are twin brothers from Philadelphia who joined TeenSHARP in the 8th grade. They were both accepted Early Decision into Carleton College with full scholarships.
Alejandra is studying film and government at Wesleyan University. As a first-generation immigrant student, Alejandra studied HVAC at a high school in one of the country’s most challenging cities and earned a full scholarship to an elite college.
Mikayla is an Economics and Black Studies major at Swarthmore. She is one of 300 scholars from a pool of over 28,700 to earn a Gates Scholarship. She also received Swarthmore’s most prestigious merit scholarship—the McCabe scholarship.
Alphina was accepted Early Decision into Wesleyan with a full scholarship. She was also selected for the National Security Language Initiative for Youth to study in Morocco for six weeks before starting college.
Austin is at Swarthmore on their McCabe scholarship. He spent six weeks in China before senior year on a National Security Language Initiative for Youth scholarship. Then he did a full gap year in China on the same scholarship before starting at Swarthmore.
Ayana is the leader of the Black Student Union at Franklin and Marshall College. She joined TeenSHARP during junior year of high school and was accepted into Smith College, Franklin and Marshall, and a few other top colleges.
